Global Blue pioneered the concept of Tax Free Shopping 40 years ago. Through continuous innovation, it has become the leading strategic technology, marketing and payments partner, empowering merchants to capture growth of luxury shoppers. In the financial year ending 31 March 2019, Global Blue processed 36 million Tax Free Shopping transactions with a total value of €18.2 billion sales in store, and 28 million Added-Value Payment Solutions transactions with a total value of €4.4 billion sales in store. Janis’ role is to identify, sell and deliver strategic, targeted, marketing campaigns and interventions for the group as well as world leading retail brands. A core part of his role is conducting strategic research and analysis to deliver, hybrid, omni-channel online-offline as well as online-online conversion at scale. His insights and achievements are also used to drive incisive new buisness opportunities with significant strategic buisness implications. Barakat is a fifth generation family owned and operated enterprise that developed from a substantial ancient art collection and increasingly focused on Contemporary art. Spread across spaces in LA, Seoul, HK and London. Janis was brought on to do A-Z to run, modernise and rejuvenate the business. With a significant personal workload Janis worked at a granular level to strategically enhance the business from London. Generated and maintained relationships with key clients. Closed multiple high value sales (five-six figure) & generated significant leads for owners.

Due to his experience with Australasian and Asian Art Janis was hired to work alongside his studies to help Countessa Jennifer Guerrini Maraldi to establish the gallery. The business was transitioning from a dealership specialising exclusively in contemporary Australian Aboriginal art to an exhibition platform for enriching contemporary art irrespective of origin.

Ex-Baldessarre is the artist’s Andy Holden’s home-brewed gallery project. The inaugural exhibition 'The Estate of Hermione’ — was a retrospective of a previously unknown outsider painter whose estate has been rescued from obscurity. Janis’ role saw him do a plethora of generalist sales, technical & registration roles as Mossgreen established their flagship Sydney premises. Board Member and Creative Director, Australian National University Student Media Inc (Woroni), 06/2014 – 03/2015
Along with the other directors Janis was responsible for the entirety of ANUSM, Australia’s first and largest student media organisation. He helped managed the annual budget, generated and designed the content it published across print, radio, video and online channels. On a daily basis Janis would design and work with the full Adobe Suite to generate high-volume print and online deliverables. The organisation printed hundreds of editorial articles which were all proofed and approved by the Board. As a company director he was also responsible for ensuring he met fiduciary responsibilities and the company met the expectations of a 20,000+ member Association and large print and online circulation.

Janis completed a semester internship assisting with the work of Prof Nigel Lendon.
